GTS Power Ltd (GTS) was established for the sole purpose of implementing the Independent Power Plant (IPP) Power Purchase Agreement which was signed between GTS, Electricite Du Cambodge (EDC) and The Ministry of Industry Mines and Energy (MIME) for a 25 year concession to develop in stages a 20 MW power plant in Kampong Cham town.
Kampong Cham is the largest province in Cambodia and Kampong Cham town, as its capital, has an estimated population of 100,000.

In implementing the staged development of the Kampong Cham Power Plant, GTS has constructed and commissioned a 7.5 MW Power Plant. This plant was commissioned on Nov 17, 2007. The commissioned power plant complies with international standards. The prime movers at the power plant are 3 X 2.5 MW HFO generators. The prime movers and the balance of plant equipment were supplied new by Hyundai Heavy Industries of Korea. EDC has called it the most modern power plant in Cambodia.
At present, Kampong Cham town is a power island. It is not connected to the National Grid. Till it gets connected, the GTS power plant is the sole supplier of reliable power to Kampong Cham town on a 24/7 basis. |
